I have to say, the conversation has flowed very freely here the last few days and I think that is great. There has been some silly bantering on both sides though. Therefore I have decided to offer these rules that have greatly shaped my life in the last ten years. They all have corresponding Scripture with them. I greatly encourage everyone here to read them and comment accordingly. I’m sure we’ll all fall short of these to some extent but I feel we should at least try. I direct you here to learn some valuable guidelines that will greatly enhance every relationship in your life.

Let me add another. When addressing someone specific, act as if you were going to be in the car with them for a long trip. No one wants a long, uncomfortable ride. Darren

Neil,

I would have to agree with you – that one is incredibly difficult for me…

It’s the partial anonymity factor, and the distance factor – e-mails are similar. Being removed makes it much easier to be harsh.

These are good reminders to all of us.

Forget email, or this, that one is just hard for me period. Especially, because for the better part of my formative years (through college) I learned to yield sarcasm like a scalpel the one who could “react” with the most force was the one who was valued.
