This seems to be Ken’s latest label. It is the new all encompassing label that captures anything he disagrees with. I really don’t think that this article needs much commentary — read it for yourself. I just took out some of my favorite quote here:

“the Purpose Driven Church for the self-centered adult set and the Emergent Church for the younger postmodern rebel crowd are now finding more and more common ground with the WWF”

Does anyone how how Ken calls PDL self-centered when the first line of the first chapter of the book is ‘It’s not about you”? The WWF? I mean, it might be cool to see The Purpose Driven Warren-ator go at it with the “Energy” King McManus. Whatdya think?

“it [ECoD] has all but reversed and obliterated the Protestant Reformation itself!”

HUH? Now who went back in time with that Delorean and made Luther reversed the protestant reformation? Don’t you remember Doc telling you not to mess with history when you go back to the future?

“I’m afraid that if you are not able to see this apostasy as it comes sweeping through American evangelicalism as a spiritual wildfire then you had better beg God to open your eyes for you surely are suffering from spiritual blindness.”

Or did he mean “if you don’t agree with me, you better beg God…”

“Although through the mind-numbing Contemplative / centering prayer they have already introduced these demons probably could do so to the average professing Christian.” (emphasis mine)

Last time I sat and listened to God, my mind wasn’t exactly numb. Wait! There was that one time when I rubbed Novocaine all over my face. But, that’s a different story all together.

Check it out yourself. It is also worth noting that 5 out of 7 references in his article were written by none other than… you guessed it… The Right Revered Kenneth Silva himself.

I thought it was called the WWE today! Can I be the Ultimate Warrior?

Nathan,

The ECoD has been one of his esoteric whipping boys for awhile now. I think the first time I saw him use it was in reference to a Promise Keepers event in an article on Slice (which I would link to if not for Ingrid’s tantrum, erasing it).

KenFish: Ken is right – end of story.

My guess (and it’s only a guess) is that Ken is jealous of Rick Warren. The Purpose Driven Life has impacted significantly more lives than Ken’s “church” or his “internet ministry”…so because Ken’s worldview is being challenged, he must attack it as wrong.

Fear followed by Pride – he fears that parts of his worldview are wrong but stubborn pride prevents him from admitting this. So he quotes himself so that he feels better. He ignores contrarian views and amplifies the “amen chorus” from Slice 2.0/CRN/apprising.org as “proof”.

It was something that was written about Promise Keepers back in September – at least that’s when I became acquainted with Slice…

My initial thought was “who’s this guy trying to stick cutsie labels on groups that have (obviously) had a big impact on American culture….?”

Here’s the Verum Serum post that dealt with the issue at about the same time – Ken’s attack on Rick Warren, based on a poor exegesis of John 6 – with the idea that if you preach the gospel you will drive people away from you (Sound familiar? *cough* Mike *cough*), rather than John 6 dealing with people’s expectations of a conquering Messiah.

I don’t follow the bit about the Reformation either… in his hit piece on Dan Kimball he refers to him hating the Reformation – What? Of course, this comment was made without substantiation or explanation.

(insert Ken’s condescending comment here)

Nathan,

“The Right Revered Kenneth Silva himself.” FYI, my first name isn’t “Kenneth”. :-)

Well, Ken, thanks for clearing up the only error you could find in Nathan’s post…
