Slice 2.0 takes this video and applies Romans 8:6 – “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”  I suppose dancing for the Lord is carnal?  Thanks Slice, for a great example of how not to apply Scripture properly.

Don’t you know that anything Ingrid doesn’t like is considered “carnal”?

Honestly, Carman doesn’t rank very highly in my books, but there are certainly bigger fish to fry than these types of things. I swear that there is a large group of Christians that just surf the internet looking for things to be offended by.

The ironic thing is that the the people who complain about these things the loudest never ever think that they themselves could be being carnal in the way they attack their brothers and sisters in Christ.

I could not name a Carmen song. And maybe the kids in the video are carnal – who knows. But lacking any real substantive comments on why this deserves the label “carnal” – I’ll assume it’s because of the style of music and dance. So it must be carnal to dance before the Lord?

Cut her a break — she’s taking her stance straight from Scripture! ;-)

I was about to respond to what looked like your defence of (probably) her, then I saw what Scripture you quoted…

Brendt,

Wasn’t Davids wife made barren for that remark against David? Ingrid better be careful! LOL!

Blessings,

Looking at it from a parental point of view. I would guess the kids in this video took several hours to choreograph and practice and such.

Let’s see – have my teenager spend several hours learning dance moves to a song like that or hang out and do who knows what because they are bored.

Maybe Slice 2.0’s tag-line should read “Worrying about the externals, so you don’t have to.”

Russ N.,

Good tag. Thing is, they don’t say why it’s carnal… they simply provide a link to the site, make a quip about taking up your cross, then quote Romans.

I have a hunch worship movement looks a lot more extreme in other cultures, so the bit about only in America may be understated.

I saw the video and I only thought one thing… these kids are pretty talented. I would love to have them on the Mosaic dance team.

Nice tag Russ.

Problem is, no one says why it is carnal. They just link to the video, make a quip about taking up your cross in America, and reference Romans.

The may be right though about only in America – in a lot of countries the movement during worship is even more extreme.

How is it the first comment on the Slice 2.0 site is a link to this post refuting them?

I posted a question asking why it was carnal. I also asked why one culture gets to dictate to another that their dance style is unbiblical.

We’ll see if my questions get posted – I hope so – I’d like some insight into the mind that rights this off w/o knowing the hearts if the kids.
