Ken Fires Back: Sinners need to be Addressed in Public
I looks like we made it to the bad boy blogs finally! We must have really set him off. Ken Silva addressed our piece entitled “Dine with the Porn Producers!â€Â Of course he failed to address any real issues brought up.   But hey, you can’t expect to get everything, right? Here are a few highlights:
The comments section, at least when they aren’t arguing among themselves, is actually quite enlightening as to how far these who have bought into the new liberal theology of the new evangelicalism will bend over backward to excuse blatant sin.
No Ken, it isn’t arguing. It is called working through the issues. We do not support a hit and run ministry such as yours at CRN and Apprising. We allow and encourage the debate to take place so that we can better understand the paradigms in which we live. And for excusing blatant sin… maybe you failed to read this line from the blog:
“Do I agree with Murdoch or Gordon’s businesses? No.â€
Ken Continues
The main hue and cry is: “It must be dealt with privately.” I guess these new evangelicals forgot to inform God because with no further discussion He struck the ill-fated Century One Real Estate team of Ananias and Sapphira dead for their sin. Very publicly did the Lord deal with this sinâ€
I love how Ken takes one single incident in scripture and applies it to all occasions. I am pretty sure that Ken is glad that God does not deal publicly with all of his sin. Otherwise there would be huge fiasco going down at Connecticut River Baptist. But seriously, to suggest that all sin needs to be addressed publicly and that God is waiting to strike sinners dead is a very sad view point for a pastor / teacher to hold. I cringe when I imagine Ken standing from his pulpit and publicly addressing the sins of all of his members.
Here are the facts… Is what Murdoch is doing wrong? Yes. If Rick Warren claims to be his pastor, does he need to speak up, Yes. Do many of us, thousands of miles away need to stick our nosy heads into this? No. Like I said before, thousands of pastors around the nation in more traditional churches are letting sin slip by. If CRN is called to be the sin police for other pastors, then they have a long way to go from one church in Lake Forest. Ken has no idea about the situation or relationship between Warren and Murdoch. Hence, he has no say in the matter. Once again, it seems that Ken’s ministry isn’t keeping him busy enough over there on the east coast… and idol hands are the devils workshop.
Personally I think they are all just upset that the Web article from the UK was removedÂ
P.S. Oh, and watch out. The article above ours is addressing Steven Curtis Chapman’s involvement with Warren.  Pretty soon the only music safe from the reaches of the satanic emerging/purpose driven/seeker sensitive church of deceit will be classical and hymns. But I am sure someone will find a way to make those “booty shakin’ music”

Oh Ken, Here is what pedantic means,
Realistically, that doesn’t help so here is what pedant means,
Now, between the two sites who seems a little more obsessed with rules?
“Pretty soon the only music safe from the reaches of the satanic emerging/purpose driven/seeker sensitive church of deceit will be classical and hymns. But I am sure someone will find a way to make those “booty shakin’ music—
I smell a YouTube challenge!
Wouldn’t they go on GodTube?
What’s this about SCC being involved with Rick Warren? Is there a link?
Well, of course Warren’s rebuke of Murdoch has to be done publicly. How else to make a spectacle of the whole matter. But wait, I thought CRN/Slice were against a “circus” church atmosphere.
As regards to the “public” discipline of Ananias and Sappira, the only person who seemed to be present was Peter and possibly a few young men. Hardly the public rebuke the discerners are calling for in the case of Murdoch.
By the way, that quote of Warren’s is two years old. How do we know that Pastor Rick hasn’t already confronted old Rupert privately with two or three other believers?
Matt,
I think Nathan is referring to an article that is linked on CRN entitled “Rick Warren, Steven Curtis Chapman Promote Biblical Orphan Care”
How dare they! Next thing you know, they’ll be promoting Biblical widow care. Everyone knows that God hates orphans and widows the most!
Ok, I was just confused because now we have Apprising Ministries, CRN, AND Slice. I can’t monitor 3 fundamentalist sites.
Our best friends are at that adoption/orphan summit so I will let you guys know how that turns out.
As an father of four (one adopted from China) and one on the way from China, I am praying that this summit will really enhance the ministry of adoption and orphan care.
As a Christian, I am thankful for these Godly men and women who are seeking new ways to care care for the fatherless, the widow, and the sojourner.
As the father of a daughter adopted from China, I give thanks to godly people like Steven Curtis Chapman, founder of Shaohannah’s Hope, which helps parents to adopt orphans internationally.
In my reading of Proverbs yesterday, I came across this verse: “He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.” – Proverbs 14:31.
haha, I think I might have already gotten comments-blocked at Slice (again…it happened within 48 hours of me beginning to comment on her old site). I can’t stand people who will throw a lot of authoritative opinions out but refuse to allow reasonable, respectful challenge. I have a lot of opinions on my website, and I’d LOVE it if people challenge what I say. Oh well.
Anyway, per your comments about music, I just posted up a response to Ingrid’s statement of position on that, it may be interesting to some of you:

Wait! We aren’t called to a social gospel. That proverb needs to be edited to fit CRN’s paradigm.
BTW: It’s not “booty shakin” music, it’s “FANNY shakin”. Ingrid would never say booty unless referring to a pirate’s treasure…don’t go there…
Come to think of it, ‘fanny’ doesn’t seem appropriate for the Slice crowd to utter either. I wonder how they justify such ‘coarse’ language. Perhaps too much “Alice” and Mel’s Diner watchin when they were youngins.
“The hands and feet have been amputated from the church and all that is left is the mouth.” My friend quoting Rick Warren regarding the church’s response to either orphan care ministry or social cause, not sure which.
All mouth and no action.
First off i am proud to say I have yet to go to Slice 2.0!!!!!
(End Applause)
Second, I agree with Ken…
Ken you are a sinner and need to repent…
I have contacted you in private and more that two witnesses have gone to you besides myself… so it is time to call you to repentance publicly…
So, repent… (Romans 3:22-23)
Blessings,

Nathan,
Kens comment:
“The comments section, at least when they aren’t arguing among themselves, is actually quite enlightening as to how far these who have bought into the new liberal theology of the new evangelicalism will bend over backward to excuse blatant sin.”
Again, I have not seen to many of us arguing here… let alone bending over backward to excuse sin…
In fact I think we all agreed that Murdoch needs to address this issue as a believer, yet realistically this will take time…
Do we just assume Murdoch should quit? Or can it be he is like Daniel serving under Nebuchadnezzar and though he has not bent a knee, he has to still work in the place God has him the best he can…
If though we use Ken’s theology, Daniel and Murdoch would be in sin because of who they worked for…
So… thank God that we agree that Ken is wrong! And we can agree agreeably together in mutual respect and patience with one another.
At least I hope Ken was honest enough to link to this site as “proof” and not to one of his “miss”ives that link to another “miss”ive and so one to prove what he claims…
It also goes to show how once again his research and discernment is way off…
Blessings,
iggy
