Ok, so last year it was Our Lady of the Pizza Pan, and last year Jesus in the Ultrasound to go with other things like cheese sandwiches, panes of glass and underpasses.

Now, they’re selling pieces of a dead Pope’s robe as ‘holy relics’? Perhaps there is some jealousy that environmentalists are starting to sell indulgences, and the Catholic church thought it had a corner on that market? What is it with these people?

That hit a chord. Here are some relics I am selling:

One cigar butt from Spurgeon as he prepared a sermon on worldliness.

A velvet potrait of Elvis signed by Ken Silva.

A bowl that Luther used when he was sick after too much wine.

Does anyone know how to stay on topic here?
Why is anyone surprised by anything that roman catholics do, since they place magesterial dogma above scripture. The rcc is full of mythology. Since they worship Jesus in a wafer anythng else is not a stretch.
Tetzel lives!

“Since they worship Jesus in a wafer anythng else is not a stretch.”

Careful, Chris, there are some among us who hold to that view, very close indeed.

Chris (agendaless love) that is too funny. He pulls out the Pastor/Teacher card. I love it.

Yea, Chris P., and after only one off topic comment. That’s legalism in my book!

Chris (AL) – that was pretty classic. I wonder if Ken will ever name the individuals on his “board”, and if it will turn out to be 3 of the 5 people in his house church, and what the actual “accountability” (if any) looks like…

Pastor/Teacher – apparently the bar has been significantly lowered for this office since Paul wrote to Timothy…

Sometimes I feel like Solo, Skywalker, and the Princess in the garbage bin when Skywalker says “It couldn’t get any worse”.

Then the giant eel sticks his head up through the muck and Solo says, “It is worse!”.

Chris P

It’s not that I’m surprised – I think “puzzled” is a better word. We have one RCC group auctioning off ‘Pieces of the Pope’ (or at least his garments), and another RCC group wringing their hands (but doing little else) that this smacks of ‘relics’ and ‘indulgences’. I thought the whole purpose of their extra-Biblical bureaucracy was to have control over stuff like this…

Ya think?

Well, Rick, between Ken Silva and Fred Phelps both touting this as their credentials for saying the things they say and doing the things they do, I’d say the bar can’t go much lower…
