Judging from the priesthood of Zacharius and his turn in the Tabernacle we could safely assume that Jesus was born on or near the day of atonement.

I'm going there, Rick - probably next, truth be told. You're probably off by a feast, though, as Sukkot (Tabernacles) probably better fits the timetable...

Judging from the priesthood of Zacharius and his turn in the Tabernacle we could safely assume that Jesus was born on or near the day of atonement. When the date was moved some of the meaning was also missed. And since the birth of Jesus is not Biblically observed we have gotten a cultural Jesus that can be celebrated by all, believer and unbeliever alike.

I personally do not enjoy Christmas, it is not Biblical, and even Christians will spend more time shopping than they will in worship. There is much "season worship" also that invades the worship that should be His alone. I do see God uses it to reach people so His grace is still sufficient, but the gross amount of debt accumulated just for gifts is obscene.

Also, how come Jesus gets no gifts, it is His birthday, right?
