Peter Dupre, worship pastor at my church (Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA), spoke at our young adults service. Here is his talk.

One of his most interesting points was that people complain about not having enough hymns, but no one ever complains about, for example, not singing enough classic Christian Creole songs.

I, for one, would like to lodge a complaint that we don’t sing enough classic Christian creole songs. Polka is a sadly neglected genre as well.

I have yet to hear my favorite.

Gregorian chant with an Indian sitar backround and sung to the beat of garbage can lid drums!

Polka is a sadly neglected genre as well.

Sadly, not in Michigan.

Sadly, not in Wisconsin either – just one station down from the local Christian station. All polka – all the time.

Like the mobster said to the punk, “Shut up or I’ll polka your eye out!”.
