The cost of these conferences is not what concerns me although there is a point to be made. But with the millions of people who need Christ, and with the falling away of much of evangelicalism (they believe that too), divorce skyrocketing, the powerless pulpits, with all that and more before us the keynote speaker spoke on the subject “Why I am a Calvinist”.

Instead of challenging the preachers to be devoted to their prayer closets, or spend more devotional time n the Word, or reach out to their communities, they are given “Why I am a Calvinist”.

That’s like gathering all the bears together and instead of teaching how to sleep better while hybernating, where to find more berries, how to guard your cubs, catching salmon, no, you speak on “Why I am a Bear!”.

You talk about a waste of time! And I’m sure theypass out pamphlets to the yearly “Christian cruise” headed by John MacArthur. Thousands of dollars for each person, gluttonous behavior, entertaining Bible studis, wonderful music, and all the while the preacher goes free, sells his tapes, and continues to draw his substantial salary back home.

It’s a money maker all around! You are right Nathan, they are throwing stones at the same setup they espouse. I must say, though, that I believe that MacManus should not team up with Schuller. He probably has his reasons like Billy Graham does, but Schuller is extremely liberal and sometimes I think he is a universalist. These are my thoughtsand I am not attacking your pastor personally.

Good post.
