The article starts off with the title: “Emerging Church: The Art of Cussing and Suggestions on Proper Cussing Etiquette”. So, I assumed that it would be about swearing, cussing, etc. The author gives an example by a writer and then tries to tie it into McLaren, Bell, and Kimball. I’ve read and heard a lot by those three men and I’ve never heard them swear. To make matters worse, the author labels the article under McLaren, Bell, and Kimball. I’m confused. What do these three men have to do with swearing?

It sounds like the author was just trying to increase his click throughs.

Oddly enough, I’m more tempted to swear when I read stuff posted at CRN or SOL than I ever was by reading anything by Bell, McLaren or Kimball…

So, let’s see…

A writer with a cup that is clean on the outside and dirty on the inside complains about another writer whose cup is dirty on the outside and clean on the inside, and then tries to tie in other men whose cups are clean on the inside and out.

Jesus’ command was that both the inside and the outside of the cup should be clean and that a clean inside is the most important of the two for the person drinking from it.

Which cup would you choose?

This is a stupid issue. But since it hasn’t been on the front burner in a while, somebody had to bring it up again.

Excessive copy and pasting of Tozer, etc. is must be boring and doesn’t make you feel alive quite the same way that kicking people in the shins does.

Are they just uninformed or what? Driscoll is supposed to be the whipping boy when it comes to cussing. Sheesh.

When I got saved in 1975 the Lord removed cursing from my mouth and He can do the same for any believer who desires that from Him. I guess I’m just old fashioned.

You spend your life teaching your own kids not use that type of language and then pastors use and endorse that same language? Are you telling me that Christian parents don’t care that their kids can use profanity?

The Christian world is passing me by.

I don’t swear. I know some Christians do. I also know that in some English speaking countries, sh-t is not considered a swear, even among conservative Christians.

With that being said, the point I was making was that I’ve never heard Bell, McLaren, or Kimball swear. Why are they associated with the blogger Mr Silva pointed out?
