Iggy – OK brother. The gloves are coming off. You want to talk about derailing a thread? I was shocked your “thankfulness” didn’t include a reference to how bad you have treated by Ken Silva! You are the MASTER at turning a thread into a “poor Iggy. Ken talked mean to me” rant.

As far as derailing the thread, it was obviously already dead already(7 vs. 100+ comments). Everyone else was busy trying to determine what was or wasn’t “God’s wrath.” I just occupied unused space.

As far as defending the ODM’s, I asked the question why so much time was spent here on basically two people and I stated that I read/frequent three blogs that fall under yours/others label of “ODM.” Just because you read MY blog, does that mean you are defending ME? I doubt it.

And Chris L is right, if you ever want to be on one of our podcasts you have a standing invitation for at least one appearance.

I came to read about other’s thankfulness and Keith derailed the whole thread with a defense of the ODM’s.

Sad… it seems even their friendliest supporters can’t stay in a God oriented thankfulness without some grip to throw in.

But, I am still thankful for all God has given me and that by His Grace has shown me great mercy and love.

BTW, I honestly couldn’t tell you off the top of my head whether Ken or Ingrid were “calvinists.” I don’t know the theological preferences of the guy at “A Little Leaven.” (I mention those three because they are the blogs I frequent)

Being reformed/Calvinist, etc isn’t a criteria for me as far as the “watchdoggie” sites I read. I would assume there are plenty of Arminian watchdog sites that aren’t fans of Rick Warren, Bill Hybels, the emerging church, etc.

To interpret Tim’s remarks:

1) The Wesleyan comment was suggesting that your defense of ODM’s may spring more from your Calvinist convictions than biblical practice, and that if hard-core Arminians (Wesleyans) were running the ODM’s, you would probably not be defending them or their tactics…

2) He was not glad you said “no” – and I was disappointed, as well.

3) Speaking only for myself, I write most of what I do in my head while in my 60-90 minutes of daily commute, with only the need to look up links and direct quotes once I sit down to write…

In answer to your question: “Do you really think what I post here would take me 20-30 hours in a week to post?” I know that I spend some time looking up a lot of the terms and phrases you guys throw around here. So surprise me. Are you glad I said “no?.” What differences stand out most to you? Are you saying we probably wouldn’t be friends?

This is where you and I have a very hard time communicating. The question was: Do you spend as much time preparing your sermons and/or Sunday School lessons as you do addressing the “crap?”

Now this is where I’m starting to get a bit insulted. Do you really think what I post here would take me 20-30 hours in a week to post? Obviously my affection for zombies and batman is throwing you off.

I suspect you might be surprised. I suspect almost all of our differences are brought up here. I also suspect that if the watchdoggies were Wesleyan you’d probably be able to see how extraordinarily flawed their methodology is.

I did not ask for an amount of time. My kids do this to me. I really do try to be nice most of the time. I can be obtuse, irritating, smart-aleck, etc.; I’ve even have been known to hijack a thread…but, most of the time, in light of the disdain I have for the emergent church and it’s sympathizers, I TRY to be civil. I begin to become cranky when I ask what seems to be a very straightforward, simple question and I get an “amost answer.”

So, are you saying you spend the SAME amount of time (20-30 hours) preparing your sermon as you do addressing the “crap.”
