Watchdoggies on alert! In the Bizarro-land of the watchdoggies, even the unoffensive offends. I posted this article, which was really just posting Mars Hill Bible Church’s statement of faith (which has been available online for several weeks, if not months, now) with the following comment of mine added:

While I am sure this will seem a little odd formatting to those used to more didactic means, with bullet points and direct scriptural references, this is a narrative form, which seems to be a much more refreshing restatement of truth in scripture than the norm.

Somehow, this gets blown up into an article in and of itself in which I am referred to as “an unofficial apologist for Rob Bell”, and prooftexted as:

this is a narrative form, which seems to be a much more refreshing restatement of truth in scripture…

Now there’s some hard reporting for you, folks! I sense a Pulitzer in the making. While I’m sure this was somehow supposed to be an insult to me, Mars Hill (my apologies to all 11,000 of you) or both, it certainly is a head-scratcher. I didn’t realize that restating truth became a sin somewhere…

Actually, had I decided to post Grace Community Church’s doctrinal statement (all 19 pages of it), I could have followed it up with an introductory comment like this:

While I am sure this will seem rather long and dry, and an almost impossible read for an unbeliever or as an evangelical tool, you will find that this is a choppy document written in didactic form, which seems to be a rather drawn out restatement of truth in scripture along with some systematic theology tossed in.

I doubt this would have warranted an article of its own, identifying Chris Lyons as an unofficial apologist for John MacArthur, prooftexted to:

written in didactic form, which seems to be a rather drawn out restatement of truth in scripture along with some systematic theology tossed in.

Certainly it would be true, but would it be news?

Or is this (like 90% of Silva’s articles) just a bid to juice Google and this “pastor/teacher’s” already inflated sense of importance in the grand scheme of things? Surely not…

Just pastor/teacher? What happened to President of Apprising Ministries and VP of accumulating made-up titles?

For a real laugh go to the Apprising “Ministries” mirror of the article where he quotes Dr. Walter Martin and for the quote cites an online source…. that links to himself.

Wow, that’s some real good research there Ken.

I find this to be the best part of their doctrinal statement.

We teach the autonomy of the local church, free from any external
authority or control, with the right of self-government and freedom
from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations
(Titus 1:5). We teach that it is scriptural for true churches to
cooperate with each other for the presentation and propagation of
the faith. Each local church, however, through its elders and their
interpretation and application of Scripture, should be the sole judge
of the measure and method of its cooperation.

Hmmmm? Sounds like great advice.

So isn’t a restatement of truth… still truth?

LOL!

Oh and go and re-listen to those “man-loving semi pelagian” Walter Martin tapes ok Ken?

“…as far as Walter Martin goes, I had the privilege of learning under Dr. Martin for about 3 years as he taught at a church near where I lived. I went to his weekly Bible studies and met him several times. I happen to know that Dr. Walter Martin referred to himself as a Cal-Minian. That is, he held to some Calvinist doctrines as well as Arminian ones.” ~ Matt Slick of CARM.org

That’s exactly my point, Iggy. But in the land of the blind ODM’s the blind man who lies about his sight is king…

sometimes I really feel bad for Ken. I mean, his whole sandcastle empire is crumbling at his feet. Rather than bow out gracefully, he tries to make as many jabs as he can on his way out. Give it a few years, and CRN / Apprising will be a distant memory in the shifting culture.

As Chris P or whoever once stated, “iggy just restates what was in the original post”… yep and this is why… becuase I read it then read what the ODm’s state, the good am I understanding this correctly or am I missing something?

SO I THEN RESTATE THE ESSENCE OF THE ORIGINAL POST so that i can verify that i am not in some other Bizarro- Land reality… after reading such pettiness from the ODM’s i just need a reality check now and then.

Totally off subject guys…

I’d just ask everyone who reads this to pray for the 800,000 or so people in Oklahoma, and all those in the rest of the midwest right now without power, heat, and amenities etc. We had a huge ice storm come through, and it wrecked all the power lines and demolished the trees and lots of houses.

At our house, our power lines and power box got ripped out of our house and thrown all over our back yard, along with 50 bagillion tree limbs that fell on them. With the new baby and all, and us not going to be having power for a long time (the electric company has so many lines to fix, it’s gonna take forever), we had to pack up and thankfully move in with our Christian brothers and sisters elsewhere. There’s a lot of people out there, including my family, who are totally upside down right now and displaced. It’s total mayhem out there, some people will be without power (probably myself, because our power dist. box is destroyed) for 2 weeks.

I’m just thankful we have clothes and food, and we’re not freezing to death. There’s probably a lot more people much worse off. Even in other countries, for sure. But right now, I’d just ask for prayer for any and all that have been screwed up by this storm. Pray for God’s mercy and comfort.

And thank God for insurance! LoL.

Thanks everyone!

Love,

Joe

JOe,

Praying also!

Also… what in the heck did I say here?!?! I am a bit tired from all my weird hours lately…

the good am I understanding this correctly or am I missing something?

I think it should say, ” make sure I am understanding this correctly”… LOL!

The thing I find funniest about this is the fact that this statement has been on the Mars Hill website for over a year, I’m pretty sure. Now the “Editor” over at CR?N sees it posted here, and “exposes” it.

In the words of Chief Wiggum, “that’s some mighty fine researchin’, there, Lou”.
