I’m sure they have enough herminutical gymnastics on deck to make “judgement” not apply to them as well as making their own judgment some sort of holy calling instead of a fleshy, worldly way of going about things.

I just love to tweak those who claim to be more biblically accurate and stand on some high ground talking down to others and point out that they are not using “biblical” language and are using “language of tradition”…

I say heaven and even state that some go to hell… I do mostly state that they will spend eternity in the Lake of Fire… but biblically it does not state we will live in heaven for eternity, but the New Heaven and New Earth and we will dwell in the New Jerusalem…

I think that there need be more relevance to get the biblical truth out than to adjust truth to fit the what others believe…

Yeah but Iggy, everyone knows what “heaven” is. Use terms everyone understands, it makes it ‘relevant’ to them when sharing the Gospel. Besides, start with ‘heaven’ and then explain what that means in Biblical terminology.

It’s just like how we say to people “Satan rebelled against God”, even though it doesn’t clearly state that in the Bible. It’s easier to start with what people already ‘know’ and go from there.

Nope, we just ask, “Which one are you going to spend eternity in? The one now, or the New Heaven and New Earth?” We like to say it as it is stated in the bible and not lean on just tradition and the “accepted”.

I think you’re thinking of Doug Pagitt and how he doesn’t think heaven is a ‘place’, so to speak?

I’ve never seen any emergent deny the existence of heaven.
