I found it a bit ironic that C?N recently posted an article with a film that criticizes Warren’s publishing relationship with Zondervan/Murdoch. I will be waiting for a film criticizing MacArthur’s publishing relationship with Zondervan/Murdoch.

John MacArthur also partners and publishes books with Thomas Nelson who also put out the book “Yoga for Christians: A Christ-Centered Approach to Physical and Spiritual Health through Yoga” by Susan Bordenkircher.
I knew it! John MacArthur is a heretic! That is proof enough for me! Gather the wood boys and let’s get Ken to light the fire… As he should agree with this also…
Oh yeah, guilt by association only works for their side of this… not ours… I forgot their double standard.
Boy, now what am I going to do with all that wood and this torch?

Since CRN is dragging out old material, I figure turnabout is fair play. I blogged on this some time ago, here’s the link.

OK – I should declare an interest (I work for the publishing company featured).
Here are my issues:
Rupert Murdoch doesn’t ‘own’ Sky, the Sun, Zondervan, Harper Collins etc. He own a controlling interest in News Corp.
News Corp own something like 36% of British Sky Broadcasting. B Sky B is the carrier – I’m not sure of the owenership of all the channels, although most are owned by Express Newspapers owner, Richard Desmond – not Sky. Also, the principle of editorial freedom when it comes to content that Zondervan enjoys is also the same freedom that Sky enjoys.
The same principle above applies to News International, the oweners of the Sun (who also publish the Times).
News Corp wholly Owns Harper Collins. Zondervan is a wholly owned Harper Collins company. However, Zondervan has a clear mission statement that controlls the editorial independence of Zondervan. There has never, in my experience, been an attempt to either restrict or influence what Zondervan produces.
What happens between Rick and Murdoch is surely between them! Besides, as Israel took funds from Babylon to rebuild Jerusalem, unrighteousness money can be used for God’s Kingdom.
The channels I am referring to are the pornographic ones by the way.
Guilt by association is such a lame argument tool, if you even want to call it that. You can almost connect anyone to anything if you try hard enough. Take this for example. Britney Spears was endorsed by Pepsi, John MacArthur has drunk Pepsi products occasionally. Therfore John MacArthur endorses Britney Spears, and we all see how that’s turned out. He should be ashamed.
It’s really that ridiculous.
Greg Koukl has a great commentary on this on Stand to Reason.
My take:
Bob the Christian goes to the grocery store to buy an apple.
The grocer takes Bob’s money to the mechanic to get his car fixed.
The mechanic takes the grocer’s money to the dentist to get his teeth examined.
The dentist takes the mechanic’s money and gives it to his 14-year-old son for his allowance.
The son uses the money to rent Robert Duvall’s movie THE APOSTLE, which features a scene where Duvall’s character hits someone with a baseball bat.
Therefore, Bob is contributing to the degeneracy of America’s youth.
Steve,
I love that!
I find it funny that the same people that made the Lord of the Rings which many Christians saw, made the Golden Compass? So all the money made from LoTR helped fund the Golden Compass… so we all contributed to atheism…
Funny though I don’t feel guilty… as now all the (few) that went to see Golden Compass (I heard it was just a bad movie in and of itself but I will most likely get it on dollar night) might fund the next “Christian” series…
Just a thought…
iggy
And THE APOSTLE was a very good movie! LOL!
