PB,

So you have a great story but have not gone and talked to them yet?

That is my point.

And no, I will not drive out to meet you as I am not publishing articles against you that are lies. I have pointed out to you where you are wrong... but you still just defend yourself and keep slandering others without a care.

You seem only right in your own eyes bro.

Other than the extra point I brought up Keith, I agree with you. Sometimes we get too focused on 'what can I do' and forget to let the Holy Spirit to His job.

"“they won’t come to church and then they may not get saved” is one extreme I think.

I didn't make that clear. Sorry.

Keith...on the flip side...don't think too lowly of God...

Can't he accomplish the same salvation, or teaching (Christians) about Himself in a bar or hooters all the same?

I'm not saying I would ever hold Bible Study at hooters, all I was saying was "the flip side".

God works in ways beyond our comprehension, and is not limited at all, as Scripture shows, and the best part is He uses his Saints to accomplish His purposes in peoples lives. Try relooking at Calvinism from that standpoint. Have all the Glory to God and Sovereignty you want, but count the human factor. The Bible wouldn't make a huge deal out of the Christian example to others, if God didn't use us to save.

Just a thought

Mike Corely is to be commended for the tone of this post. I too have been guilty of harsh assumptions without checking out the facts. I'll try to do better. (I actually read "Purpose Driven Life; didn't like it or agree with it, but I read it.)

I still disagree with methods/tactics like "Bible Study at Hooters" or "Theology at the Bottleworks." When we convince ourselves that we must adapt the Gospel to these levels because we're afraid we can't reach people any other way (statements like: "they won't come to church and then they may not get saved"), then I think we've begun to think too highly of ourselves and forgotten the power of God to accomplish anything and everything He plans/ordains (cf Hebrews 4:12; 1 Cor 1:21).

My reformed/calvinistic two-cents...

Iggy,

I actually did just that on December 23rd. Solomons Porch advertised one service,
a 7:00 one (Normally 5:30 and 7:00) and I drove 3 hours through wind and snow
and horrible conditions to be there on time for the advertised service to talk to him
and to Tony Jones.

As I drove up, people were leaving. I went inside. Among the 25 or so people still there,
after 25 minutes or so one finally came to greet this 'other' among them. She then explained that the site was wrong, they had service at 5:30, That Doug, Tony, and Julie were all gone, but I could try to find them as they were all heading to some restaurant in the twin cities ( she didn't know which one)

So, I have made the attempt at least once. If I can, I plan to go up there next sunday night.

So, when are you headed to Marshall, MN to do the same with me, Igmeister?

PB,

Will you? It seems you wont so far as i talk to you... you seem pretty straight forward that you are more willing to twist things so that you can support your agenda...

When will you go and talk to Doug P face to face?

Or are you just all talk?

This is a great article.

May we follow this example, who is an example
of what Jesus would do.

Good find Nathan, that's really encouraging.

Maybe he'll take on Rob Bell next?
