Several years ago one church was packed on a Monday night. Why? Prayer for missions? Prayer for gays? Prayer for our children? No, the County Commission held a meeting to let people speak out against a new gentlemen’s club opening in our area. Did they ever even think about those precious girls? How about the addicted me? The pastor of the largest church in the area made the point that it would decrease the real estate values.
That club operates tonight and NO ONE CARES.

David Livingston cared. John Wesley cared. Carey cared. And I will tell us all something I have not shared. The guy Shane Clairborne at least cares for the human man. I cannot ascribe to his doctrine, but the Holy Spirit uses people with whom I could never agree to convict me personally about “getting dirty” with the sinful world.

And voting against homosexual rights is nothing more than attempting to protect our so called moral lifestyles. We don’t love gay people and many people feel they deserve hell. Hypocrisy doesn’t begin to address what much of the church exhibits. We wouldn’t drink from the same glass as a gay person and yet the holiest man who ever lived allowed and embraced the spit that flowed from the lips of wicked men.

Yea, we’ll all lose sleep over the plight of the gay community. And if we define “care” as I hope they get saved, then we are pitiful, very pitiful.

call me when the Christian church and its front organizations start spending millions of dollars in the political realm to spread disinformation campaigns about those who get divorces, and attempt to maim the United States Constitution, with an utter lack of regard for or understanding of civics or the meaning of said Constitution, in order to prohibit people from committing adultery.

until then, people are right to acknowledge that much of the American Christian church is utterly and unreasonably obsessed with homosexuality, though most of you/them don’t even know gay people beyond the false caricatures painted for you by the likes of the American “Family” Association, ok thx bye…

That’s the point I was making…that there are some who are so…brainwashed, i mean such…True Believers…that when statistics, research, and nuance contradict what they believe to be true, they still double down into their self-constructed insanity.

While I agree with much of your comment, I would point out that ’statistics’, ‘research’ and ‘nuance’ are not liberal/conservative properties…

Jesus said to remove the log from your on eye, which tells us that it is possible then to do so and to judge rightly.

Oh, and lots of people hold “pro-life” views personally, yet see that the so-called “pro-life” movement is actually a fraud, and that the pro-choice movement does more to reduce the number of abortions performed in this country than the so-called “pro-life” movement. Those statistics come from the liberal fields of “statistics” and “research,” and the issue is hashed out mentally in the liberal realm of “nuance.”

Not a big deal though.
