Slice'd DogI have to say, I got a chuckle out of one of Ingrid’s recent articles, where she claims that CBS’ 48 Hours contacted her (and that she turned them down) for an interview for an upcoming show on a camp that is training 700 kids to become Christian Missionaries.

In explaining why she turned them down, she says:

Sorry CBS. We’re not going to help you in your vicious attack on Christians.

To which I wondered if the completed thought might be “because we don’t need your help to do it.  We work alone.”

Seriously, though, I am glad that, if she was asked, she turned them down.  I wouldn’t want her speaking for the church in any capacity.  As for whether the sponsors of the camp or responsible Christians should have turned them down, I would think that would be a bad idea:  If it becomes a smear job, there will be many who will see through it.  If it does not (and it doesn’t appear to be headed that direction), how better to put a good foot forward.

Do I think CBS (or the kids at the camp) will push all the ‘right’ theological buttons?  Probably not.  Do I think that it is a good thing for Christians to be seen as promoting missions and building character in their youth?  Certainly.  Do I think an invitation from a non-Christian newsgroup should receive this response:

That’s like Adolf Hitler calling to ask if you want to be featured in one of his latest “documentaries” on the Jewish issue. Opposing views are welcomed. Just don’t be surprised that when you finally screen the film you find that they have edited in lice crawling over your face.

I would hope the answer would be a self-evident “No”…

She only desires CBS and all the rest to help her with gossip, immuendo, moral failures, and any tidbit that can provide another piece for an attack piece. Forget about Christian missionaries CBS, but have you got the latest on Miley?

She is also waiting to be asked for a greater assignment, that is to offer her verbal assaults, complete with Nazi references, on the gay community. She has an extensive resume and is well qualified to speak on that issue. I can imagine a Larry King episode via satellite.

Gay guy: Why do you refuse to treat me with respect and love, Ms. Schlueter?

Ingrid: Because I will not be a part of the jack booted thugery that is attempting to queer-ize the entire culture. And I demand a gas reimbursement for the time I have to sit in traffic due to your stupid parades in my town. You are a God hating Sodomite who deserves what you get from my God. By the way, Jesus loves you.

Larry: Well, there you have it, Christianity on display. And now a word from our sponsor, Disney.

Rick – I think Larry King’s on CNN, not CBS… And Disney owns ABC…

…oh, but maybe that misses your point ;)

Chris – after watching the video I would assume Ingrid and her entourage would strongly disapprove of just about everthing they are doing, except the American flag deal. It must be nice to know how to evangelize God’s way. God bless those kids, they are doing more than most of us.

I do believe the “lice crawling on your face” word picture was an exceptionally nice touch. It gives a fresh and exciting “Hannibal Lecter-esque” ambiance to post which had all the boring, self serving qualities we’ve all come to expect.

We’ve read lice now, watch for frogs and flies in coming posts. Oh the anticipation…

Ick.

The really sad thing is that that woman thinks CBS calls her cuz she’s actually important, rather than representative of the “entertaining fringe” that voyeuristic American culture needs to make themselves feel better…seeing as how they aren’t as bad off or as bat doo doo crazy as the pathologically “religious” by any stretch of the imagination.

Just days ago, she accused Terry Gross of Fresh Air of having “an apparent taste for Christian apostates” when she lambasted Frank Schaeffer.

Then she gets an invitation from a secular media outlet, and turns it down? Can you blame the media for turning to “Christian apostates?”

8   nc
December 15th, 2008 at 7:03 pm

oooh…

Christian apostate apparently means someone who sees people for who they are.

She’s just mad because Frank took away another idol of “Christian” perfection for her.

Her pantheon is shrinking…

I wonder who those folks are?

I’m kinda glad she turned them down, I too would not want to media to use her as a representative of Christianity.

Well it’s nc’s turn to be the holy spirit, as he claims to know what Ingrid is actually thinking.
As for this; post another waste of cyber space. None of you actually sees that your malevolence toward Ingrid makes you look like idiots.

Rick F. WAS the only regular here that I had any inkling of respect for…. and now there are none.
Ingrid stands head and shoulders above you “men”. I feel sorry for your wives.

That’s like Adolf Hitler calling to ask if you want to be featured in one of his latest “documentaries” on the Jewish issue.

Godwin’s Law aside, this statement assumes that the “you” in question is Heinrich Himmler.

Actually, nc, Frank Schaeffer acted very ADM-ish. Rather than seek to correct the error of those who idolized his father, he simply kicked the skubala out of the pedestal his father was on.

December 15th, 2008 at 7:43 pm

Oh…thank you Template!

Yeah, what you perceive as an untoward comment just outweighs the trainwreck that is the ADM debacle.

So sorry. I wonder if Template is the bitter, resentment filled Chris P attempting some modicum of “creativity” with his witty new post…

Please… my comment has nothing to do with determining the standing of people before God. And that’s exactly what Chris P and the other imams do all the time. And doing that IS playing the Holy Spirit role.

Nice try though.

I’m sure that Rick is just broken hearted over your loss of respect.

December 15th, 2008 at 7:48 pm

another thing…

don’t confuse you and your ilks sin of personal malevolence for disdain for self-righteous piety…

But I get it…you have a vested interest in drawing some kind of equivalence to your “ministry of accusation and anger to the glory of God”.

You get the accusation and anger part right…but so much for “ministry” and God’s glory.

I have seen this presentation.

It is disappointing; some of the kids (by their own testimony) are not even saved and they are attempting to share another Gospel.

I do not blame Ingrid, nor would I blame Rick Warren (I might even give him props) for refusing to give a comment about this. If I did, I would proclaim my admiration for the desire to do missions and disappointment in the people chosen to do it not being saved.

PB,

Why do you continue to make things up? I too watched (which is on YouTube) the entire episode and saw no one who “wasn’t saved”. In fact CBS says in the opening segment “This may inspire you… or provoke you”

Chris,

I saw it sometime in the last year. It, at least these scenes, are not new. I recognized the same kids in the full length version I saw in these clips.

Teeeeemplate! oh, teeeeeemplate! where are you?

come out, come out wherever you are…

Oh, that’s right. You can’t own your disdain…

and you feel sorry for our wives.

That’s rich.

And now there is none. Thank you for both swooping in to deposit your impeccable wisdom about everyone, and in the same breath do obeisance to Ingrid saying “Ingrid stands head and shoulders above you “men”. I feel sorry for your wives.”

You are feminizing the Scriptures, accepting the gay cabal isn’t far off.

I wonder if Template has a wife…or better yet…is one.

That would be lovely and particularly ironic.

Template, template…where are you?

Come out, come out little angry Saint Template.

Are you convinced of your own righteousness because you told those big bad people real good?

Forgive us if we don’t lay down for your sniping…I know it’s your spiritual gift and all, but I guess we just can’t affirm you in it yet.

Give it another try…see if you can out do yourself…and then maybe you can be released to your “ministry”.

If Template is Chris P., then his attempt at anonymity is in my opinion deceptive and against the teachings of Scripture that command our yea be yea and our nea be nea.

Provide for things honest in the sight of all men.

Rick,

well, we know what Template/Chris P/”god-complex”/anger issues/”whoever they are” already declared what they think of your opinion…

I mean…they deigned to take time out from their godly schedule and come down here to this “cyber waste of space” that’s so worthless they can’t stop lurking here…

but what do you expect? It takes a lot of energy and help being resentful for the sake of the “kingdom”.

In some ways, they should thank us for helping them communicate the good news of their righteousness to themselves…

btw, isn’t there a parable about that? something about two guys in the temple praying…

mumble, mumble, condemning pharisee, mumble, cough, cough…

Neil, would you rather have Paula White or Joel Osteen or Dallas Willard as a christian rep on tv

all 3 of them push false teachings.

Neil, would you rather have Paula White or Joel Osteen or Dallas Willard as a christian rep on tv

all 3 of them push false teachings.

Just as I wouldn’t want to have false followers like Ken and Ingrid represent Christians I’d hate to have those three represent Christians.
