Out of curiosity I began googling the namesakes of denominations to see what the chances were that any of them were “saved”.   Turns out, online, nobody is guranteed salvation.

John Calvin…nope heresy.

Martin Luther…nope a fraud.

John Wesley…Free will deciever.

Apparently nobody has it right.  Dang it just when I thought I was good.

Look hard enough and long enough and everybody every doctrine has cracks.  Lucky for me my salvation depends on one thing and one thing only…”Believe on me you shall be saved”.

The site called “Chris Lyons the Pied Piper of Heretics” puts the exclamation mark on all of it.

Personally, I hate labyrinths, but I have found when used in concert with religious peyote one can find God.

“Calvinists – Deceiving the Simple”

Gotta love it.

I confess that Rick is the sole arbitur of orthodoxy.

Does that make me “in”?

John – in systematic terms it is:

Sola Rickus

I like the site about Luther, personally. I’ve never seen an Anabaptist ADM.

It’s amazing to see so many people so entrenched in their positions. I have to think that a big part of it because of the anonymity the internet provides. I wonder if these people walk around with such puff-out chests in real life?

The Calvin link cites eternal security as the heresy, allowing people live like hell.

While some folks who claim Christ live like pagans, that is not a proper test of a doctrine. Does it line up Scripture and glorify God? – that’s the test. Christ alone saves and Christ alone keeps those whom He has saved.

Those who believe one can lose (by any means) his salvation denigrate the sacrifice of Christ and normally defend their view by mis-reading texts about “falling from grace”. I have yet to find one who can explain how one can be “born again” a second or third or 100th time.

Not to mention that the KJV is the only right translation.

Manfred,
Can I have your address so that we can mail you, your award? You win, the completely misses the point award. What do you get for your prize? A video of A-Rod striking out with bases loaded and the game tied in the bottom of the 9th.

Hey, if it was good enough for the Apostle Paul, it should be good enough for all of us… ;)

Joe,

How did Manfred miss the point?

The award is also called the “huh?” award. We usually award it on a platform in left field. :)

I love the name Covenant Protestant Reformed Church… how redundant can one name get?

I agree with Manfred… though he would be quick to say I am not saved as I am emerging…

But whateva… he doesn’t get what emerging is but that is another topic.

Neil – the post was about doctrinal cracks and the commenter brings an argument about eternal security.

Does the word “obtuse” apply here?

Neil,
He wanted to point out what was wrong with the people who were attacking what I imagine is his doctrine. The whole point of the OP was to point out that all doctrine gets attacked. The point of the OP was not to open up a discussion about the merits of those attacks.

OK, Joe… I see… I guess I missed it since I agreed… at least the first portion…

I was actually hoping that we could go around the “my theology can kick your theologies butt” tree a few hundred comments or so…uh…actually no.

That would be dreadful.

Yes, as in the words of Eeyore,

“Thanks for noticing!”

Well at least it makes two of us who are the worst Christians in the world for knowing what the song is :P I can’t help but laugh when thinking about it though.
