This morning on CBS’s Morning Show.

A beautiful portrait of God’s ability to heal and restore. And timely with Eugene’s post.

Notice what the interviewer says at the 4:40 mark.

Thank you, chris. There is more profund truth in that few minutes than we can imagine. Africa is always on my heart, and the tragedy in Rawanda is beyond our comprehension. And this woman can forgive atrocities unknown in the west, and yet we believe, as expressed in the other thread, that we could kill another person without and pangs of conscience.

Even those who tout the greatness of other’s sins see their own as only great doctrinally, but not comparable to those others. She forgives throngs of murderers roaming the streets while here believers casitgate and attack sinners who just march in our streets.

Her grace and forgiveness puts a starkness to the cold, dead theological discussions that center on the letter and are blind to the Spirit. And while some would even find fault with her reciting the Lord’s prayer, her painful honesty about her own heart uncovers the dead theology of her detractors.

Without grace, without forgiveness, and without love we have nothing but some tortured form of Christian Nirvana, arrived at by an ascending doctrinal test and not the full blown revelation of the true Jesus in our lives.

Thanks again, chris.

God’s grace……… hmmm……..
One million died in 3 mos. Where was His grace then?
The interviewer quoted scripture; so did Satan. Even the demons believe.

I wonder how many hail mary’s she said along with the “our father”
It’s God’s grace he doesn’t strike everyone down who is making a buck off of Him.

BTW there is no apartheid in the body of Christ. There is no division. Paul’s point in 1 Cor 12 is that the body CANNOT be divided.
What is seen here is what you get when the Word of God is not held as the standard.
Let’s have a conversation instead of seeking the Truth, because we really don’t want to know.

Template… perhaps sanctimonious would be a better modifier than righteous

…particularly after examining the fruit of your comments here…

BTW there is no apartheid in the body of Christ. There is no division. Paul’s point in 1 Cor 12 is that the body CANNOT be divided.

Ephesians 4 would seem to disagree since there are commands to seek unity. Why command to seek unity if its impossible to be divided?

I guess when you start with theology and then move to the scriptures you end up with stupid statements like the one above. I pray one day you’ll actually treat the scriptures like they are authoritative and begin with them rather than just pay lip service to them.

Template – Yours is not Christianity, it is a self righteous view of everything and everything. But I do thank you for providing an incredible example of what part my comment was referring. Namely:

“And while some would even find fault with her reciting the Lord’s prayer, her painful honesty about her own heart uncovers the dead theology of her detractors.”

Voilà.

Let everyone who reads this blog sit up and take notice. Here is a woman who offers forgiveness to the murderers of her family and a million others in her community, and she reveals it was in obedience to the Lord Jesus’s prayer and with the help of the Spirit.

And here comes a commentor who diminishes and disdains forgiveness with the coldness of an atheist and the hubris of a self absorbed doctrinal dictator. Forgiveness is the core of Christianity, and to use this woman’s testimony as another platform for scorn is unconscionable.

But it is in fact a revelation of the singlular reason why this blog exists, namely to expose the false orthodoxy proclaimed by some bloggers that like a roaring lion goes about seeking whom they may destroy.

Template/Chris P:

I need to offer you an apology.

after reading this:

And this:

You probably just can’t help yourself.
Honestly, that’s easier to understand.

I’m sorry I just thought you were just being a pompous, self-deifying prick.

Wow… I mean just wow… what a mockery of God’s grace… and it seems that you miss that Paul warns against people who cause division… but it seems if you mock God’s grace, you must not really care for the Bible’s teaching at all… in fact it seems that you fit the very description of the person that Paul states for those in the Body to stay away from…

Let’s have a conversation instead of seeking the Truth, because we really don’t want to know.

This part is a bit confusing but as far as I can tell from the rest of this comment and others you make… you really do not want to know about Truth… so I agree… and even more, it seems that you have no idea what a conversation really is! So really you just mock yourself with such a comment…

OK for the rest of us who are not smoking peyote, on with a conversation about the Truth of God’s Grace.

I do pray that you one day find the Grace of God and have it change your life… it is real… it is powerful…

iggy

Had I not read this, I would not have believed one member of the body of Christ could be so cold, so callous, so brazen and anger filled to another part of Christ’s body.

Although, I must admit by choosing template/disdain you label yourself well:

Disdain:
1. to look upon or treat with contempt; despise; scorn.
2. to think unworthy of notice, response, etc.; consider beneath oneself
3. a feeling of contempt for anything regarded as unworthy; haughty contempt; scorn.

template:
1. a pattern, mold, or the like,
2. anything that determines or serves as a pattern; a model:

You certainly model haughtiness as you consider others beneath yourself…

Template of Disdain’s post certainly reveals a lot of the ecclesiology of ADMs. What’s odd is it seems to look a lot like like the Roman Catholic Church.

I probably should not have allowed Model of Haughtiness to derail the thread.

Chris L.,

What a wonderful post – thanks.
