As I think about your story, you’re actually somewhat confirming Joe’s thesis, as your roommate was not one of the beachgoers being subjected to the shouting, but rather someone already in a relationship w/ the shouters.

As for the story, itself, I suspect that (if what you’re relating is accurate) what your roommate experienced was growth, not conversion – the difference between the two being something a young Christian may be unable to discern…

So you couldn’t even discern whether or not the person you live with was a Christian, but somehow you’re able to judge whether strangers on a beach are? Hmmm…
