And once again CRN links to a secular news site and also provides a link to more thoroughly investigate the sin of football star Steve McNair. So instead of showing "compassion" in a time of extreme grief, they have opted to take this opportunity to talk about church discipline. It isn't the topic that is offensive, it is using a fresh tragedy as your obeject lesson and employing secular sites to more fully unveil the sin of the dead man. When will the body of Christ, while fully realizing the sins in question, show some compassion and redemption without using situations of grief to more fully showcase our Biblical objections to the sins of others?

I am not sure how compassion is exhibited in a Biblical rebuke.

There is no inherently more compassionate stance in any camp…there is only a difference in what we choose to have compassion on.

That’s why the whole discussion about who is more compassionate, etc. is really a dead end.

#394 – You are not alone, Neil. One of the main reasons that I left the ODM gang was because I could not reconcile the caustic and self righteous language many used. Before I discovered the intenet blogs, I had always thought that the more “liberal” believer would almost always be the more humble and gracious in any exchange of perspectives.

I have found that to be inaccurate.

I know this is vague, but I do not know what I did to cause you to treat me so.

If expressing hurt when a brother continues to be condescending and nasty and name-calls is whining – then I am a whiner.

I am sorry you cannot stand me enough to address my cautions. But at this point I suspect you are right in saying you cannot converse with me.

On a more serious not Chad, you could have said the same thing without the insults – but you chose to continue to be nasty.

Once you got your answered you quit commenting. Then you resumed by taking up another discussion. I just assumed that since you decided to engage in another topic you were done with this one.

A simple explanation would have been sufficient.

Forgive me, O Great One, I should have asked your permission before tending to a few shut-ins and a member of my church who is in jail. I only returned with enough time to find an interesting discussion about communion which I, beg your pardon, commented on before enjoying dinner with my family.
