I thought you might like to read this short article. When the Poor Die.
Our first day in Swaziland Pastor Gift told us about Maswane and asked if we would be willing to go pray with her. When she was five years old she was raped which is how she contracted HIV.
She was raped again when she was seven and has never once consented to sex with a man. One of the men who raped her has died, and the other is free; he escaped to South Africa. Her virginity as well as her life has been brutally ripped away.

Many Africans with AIDs believe if they have sex with a virgin they will be healed. Perhaps how this tragedy began.
Approximately 5000 Africans die daily from HIV AIDs. One and one half times the amount that perished on 9/11. Every day.
Does that cast a light on nationalism (not to get it started)? Is God more concerned with American deaths than black African deaths? How about Christian cruises? I sometimes wonder if authentic Christianity exists in America.
BTW – Let’s follow the adventures of Miley Curus while these Africanas die and “decrease the surplus population”.
Or we can all be like Rick and sit on our asses and judge others for not doing enough to save 5-year-old rape victims in Africa. What have you done- Rick-besides your usual flatulence on this blog? Like what is it we’re supposed to do about Africa? Somebody compassionate on here tell us what it is we’re supposed to do.
That is between you and God. The Spirit broke me a decade ago about this and my partner and I began a mission to Africa. We have sent many missionaries there are continue to provide financial, wells, and other types of help.
I sense you are reacting to my Miley comment. My attempt at perspective seems lost on you.
One other thing some could do. Like Chad Holtz, if you can, you can adopt some African orphans. Regardless of the disagreements I have with Chad, I respect him immensely for that committment.
Cash – dude, why the hate?
There are enough problems in this world to overwhelm any one person.
I believe that God calls us to different missions – ones that best fit the talents, interests and abilities He’s given them (whether they know them yet, or not). God called Jonah to Nineveh – not any of his contemporaries. Even when Jonah tried to run away. I think it would be wise to avoid criticizing others for what they do not do in regards to missions…
