So, its our fault. Who knew?
i disagree. The world was bad and ugly long before we were around to look at it.
Nietzsce’s resolution to find a Christian resolution to find the world ugly and bad makes him oblivious to the obvious.
Rick,
I thought you, of all people, would actually appreciate such an anti-Reformed position as this.

Jerry – I am most unappreciative of Nietzsce and I also recognize the fallen “Hiroshimaesque” nature of this world, even if I do not experience the worst of it. (Darfur, Afghanistan, Haiti, etc.)
The totality of human sufferring and sin in this world is overwhelming, and, in the words of the Apostle John, “…and the whole world lieth in wickedness.”
However, and to your point, the gospel is good news and not an excuse to highlight men’s wickedness.
Jerry,
While I agree that a number of Christians have abetted Nietzsche’s observation, I’d say that – proportionally to the demographics – non-Christians are probably more culpable on the overall score.
Even so, as Hilary notes, it was a result of the fall, not Christians/Christianity…
/Not at all a Nietzsche fan…
FYI: This is far too close to the current atheist meme of “Religious belief/fanaticism (primarily Christianity) is the cause of most of the world’s problems”, and isn’t really in line w/ the root of the thesis of UnChristian or They Love Jesus but Not the Church, both of which I tend to agree with…
Well, to be sure, quoting something isn’t necessarily the same as endorsing the thing quoted. Nor is quoting someone necessarily a pat on the quoted one’s butt. It is a thought and I appreciate the responses to the thought.
Sorry, Jerry… sore spot…
It’s all good Chris. I get it. I just don’t want anyone thinking that I have a theology developed from the work of the guy.
