I resemble that.
Hypocrisy is acting, pretending that you are something that you are not. I do not understand the quote.
By “meanest”, Sloyan means “basest” or “at the root”. In other words, hypocrisy is at the root of the human condition. As soon as Adam and Eve decided to try to cover their nakedness, they were engaging in hypocrisy. They were trying to appear to be something they were not.
To some degree all of us pretend. Hence, grace.
I believe that the origin of “hypocrite” refers to actors on the stage playing a part.
